When the pandemic shutdowns shone a light on the need to livestream our liturgies, we were very much starting from a “standing still” position. Initially, we began to record the liturgies and upload them to our website. The decision to investigate the cost and installation of permanent equipment began in the spring of last year, and throughout the summer months, our efforts were invested into researching equipment and companies who could best serve the needs of the parish. Our findings were then reviewed by an acoustician, who focused on the renovation of our sound system, parts of which have been problematic for years now. The sound package was adjusted in accordance with his recommendations, and we are now finally able to move forward with contracting the installation and purchasing the sound, streaming, and lighting equipment—praise God! We are so grateful to the many parishioners who donated to this project, and we are going to move ahead now as quickly as circumstances will allow. One of the effects of the pandemic we are encountering is that equipment delivery is very slow. Another is that since many places of worship have jumped on board with livestreaming, installers are very busy. The backlog of the work was exacerbated by the fact that for some months into the pandemic, installation companies were either closed or limited in their ability to work, so they are catching up to the demand. St. Brigid is now in the process of contracting with our vendor of choice, at which time the equipment can be ordered. We ask your prayers for timely delivery of the equipment we need and a speedy, but well-executed installation.
Thank you, St. Brigid Parishioners, for your support and understanding—you are the best!
