BECOME A CATECHIST & SHARE YOUR FAITH
Is the Holy Spirit Nudging You to Share Your Catholic Faith with the Young People of our parish?
Do you love working with children or youth? Is your passion passing on your Catholic Faith to others? Then, consider sharing your talents for teaching and that faith with our young people. New disciples are needed each year to fill the sandals of catechists whose life situation calls them elsewhere. Daytime office help is also very much appreciated. Take it to prayer and see if God is nudging you.
We need Catechists, Catechist Aides, Catechist Substitutes, Catechists for Liturgy of the Word with Children, and weekend and Tuesday evening office help. Please pray about it and see if the Holy Spirit is leading you to share your hidden – or unhidden – talents with the young people of St. Brigid.
A Word From Sister Gemma: Being a Catechist will provide you the opportunity to rededicate yourself to the mission entrusted to you by Christ, “Go make disciples.”
Please kindly consider helping out students to learn and know about Christ and His church.

Volunteer Opportunities For Youth & Children
St. Brigid offers the children and youth of its community a variety of ministry opportunities to practice their discipleship.
We are blessed in our St. Brigid community with many families.
It is said that our children are the future of the Church; and at St. Brigid, we offer several ministries in our worship life and social life, in which children and youth can participate.
Worship/Liturgy
Altar Servers assist the priest at the altar during Mass, and set an example of service to the community by their reverence and posture of grace and reverence. This ministry is open to persons from 10 years of age and up.
Greeters are ministers of hospitality to all who come through the church doors. They welcome all and assist with seating, special needs, and processions. They also distribute handouts and bulletins. It is an important and rewarding ministry where young people have the special opportunity to minister together with their families.
To minister as an altar server or greeter,
please contact Cathy Tucker at 210-696-0896, ext. 207.
Music/Performing Arts
Legacy Hand Bell members learn to play bells in coordination with each other to bring forth beautiful music. Members must be 12 or older and be willing to learn to read music. The group ministers throughout the year, especially for special feast days. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 to 7:45 pm, and commitment to regular attendance is needed.
The Performing Arts Ministry is a special way for people of all ages to become involved in evangelizing the Word through involvement in our parish musicals, either on stage or behind the scenes. Speaking and singing roles are auditioned in August for the Christmas musical and in late December or early January for the Easter musical. Rehearsals are scheduled to fit the demands of the productions, and are typically held on Sunday afternoons, Wednesday evenings, and Thursday evenings.
Our St. Brigid Orchestra is open to those with intermediate skills in playing orchestral instruments (strings, winds, percussion) and at least two years of playing experience. The orchestra ministers throughout the year at Masses and serves as the foundation for the orchestral requirements of our parish Christmas and Easter musicals. Regular rehearsals are Mondays, 7:00 to 8:00 pm, with musical rehearsals arranged as needed.
Young Voices is our newest choir, merging what once was our children’s and youth choirs. This group is open to children at least 6 years old who have at least basic reading skills through youth 18 years old. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. The group sings at the 10:30 Mass on the last Sunday of the month, at special Masses, parish musicals, and the Children’s Christmas Eve Mass.
To minister in one of these choirs/events,
please contact Dorothy Ybarra at 210-696-0896, ext. 215.
