HELPING OUR CHURCH FAMILY THROUGH THE ARCHBISHOP’S APPEAL
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
As we recently passed the half-way point in this year’s Archbishop’s Appeal, I want to thank all of you who have been contributing to and praying for its success. Our parish is currently about two thirds of the way toward reaching our $97,503 goal, and your gifts are being put to good use!
The Archdiocese reports that Appeal-funded ministries – such as daily Mass and other religious programming on Catholic Television of San Antonio; social services and counseling through Catholic Charities and other agencies; Catholic school scholarships through Hope for the Future – are in even greater demand during the COVID-19 pandemic, while priestly and deaconate formation, support of faith formation, and so many other vital ministries continue.
These are such trying times for so many of us. May I ask all of you to join me in prayer for our fellow parishioners and for our brothers and sisters across the Archdiocese who are suffering due to the pandemic or for other reasons? And will you join me in praying for the success of the Archbishop’s Appeal, which helps our local church respond to this suffering?
If the Lord has blessed you with stable income and you are able to make a financial contribution to the Appeal, I humbly invite you to consider that as well. Maybe this is the first chance you have had to donate. Or maybe you have already made a gift or pledge, but you are in a position that you could make an extra gift in place of a fellow parishioner who has lost his or job due to the pandemic. Either way, your generosity is a great act of solidarity with and compassion toward your local church family.
Options for giving are many. For those who have not yet been able to donate, the Archdiocese will do another mailing to homes in mid-August, and you can use the form sent to you. Gifts and prayer requests may also be submitted online at www.archsa.org/archbishops-appeal; by phone at 210-734-1604; and by mail at PO Box 34150, San Antonio, TX 78265. You also can now text to give using 210-750-6712, keyword APPEAL. Be sure to indicate that you are with St. Brigid!
