The Archbishop’s Appeal for Ministries: Together, we offer hope for the future
Thank you to all who have joined together so far to support this year’s Archbishop’s Appeal for Ministries. To those who are still considering making a gift or pledge, we invite you to do so today. The Archbishop’s Appeal speaks to our strength and unity as Catholics ready to serve the people in our archdiocese. Your gift will form seminarians and deacons, evangelize and share Christ’s love through acts of kindness, care for retired clergy, and protect God’s most vulnerable — the hungry, homeless, elderly, unborn, sick, prisoner, and lonely. It also will do much to catechize our young people and form people in the faith.
To see the impact of your gift, consider the story of Joan and Ron. They valued the education their daughter, Sarah, was receiving at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School. However, changes in the family budget meant Sarah would need to attend a nearby public school. Unfortunately, she struggled. Joan and Ron scrimped and saved so Sarah could go back to Blessed Sacrament, where she once again excelled.
But even with Ron working as much overtime as possible and Joan seeking a job to help, they struggled. Learning about Hope for the Future, a scholarship program supported by gifts to the Archbishop’s Appeal, they decided to apply.
The family was overjoyed when they received news that they were awarded assistance. Since then, Sarah has joined many clubs, fostered great friendships, and absolutely loves her school! Joan says, “The Hope for the Future award has helped us so much and put a smile on our daughter’s face every day. Thank you!”
Your generosity supports a Catholic education for youngsters who will go out into the world and serve their communities with a disciple’s heart. It also supports 30 other vital ministries that touch people’s lives every day.
During the COVID pandemic and the great economic and personal hardships it has caused, many Appeal-funded ministries have seen greatly increased demand for their services while also facing greater financial struggles of their own. This is due in part to lost revenue such as cancelled fundraisers and increased expenses due to necessary environmental safety items and procedures.
The Archdiocese is asking for help from all of us in ensuring that these vital ministries are fully funded. Rather than asking people and parishes to give more money, the emphasis is on asking more people to give. And so there is no set dollar goal for each parish. Rather, we have a participation goal of 25% — with the true goal really being 100%.
Our current parish participation level is near 7%. Would you prayerfully consider a gift of love to help us meet our goal? You can offer a one-time gift, a monthly pledge with installments ending December 31st, or a recurring monthly gift, which is a monthly gift with no end date until you contact the Appeal Office. Ways to give include:
• Use the Appeal envelope sent to your home or found at church.
• Text-To-Give at (210) 750-6712, keyword APPEAL.
• Go online at www.archsa.org/appeal
• Call (210) 734-1604.
Whatever the means, be sure to select our parish for credit, even if your gift is anonymous. God bless you!
